Our Story
Born from a love letter to Italy
Bella Ciao Travels began with a simple realisation: that the way I had always planned trips for the people around me could become a real service — personal, structured, and built entirely around the traveller.
I'm Annalisa De Carlo. I was born and raised in Diano Marina, a small village in Liguria, in the north-west of Italy. I studied there too, completing a bachelor's degree in human sciences focused on Italian landscapes, rural culture, and environmental heritage — a background that has shaped how I read a place and how I design travel through it.
Before moving to Australia, I worked across Europe as a tour representative, tour leader, and tour guide — primarily in Italy and France, and later in the Principality of Monaco. I led groups, delivered cultural experiences, and guided travellers through everywhere from Liguria and Tuscany to Umbria and Puglia. I've also lived in Rome, Milan, and Turin, which gave me a feel for Italy's cities and the regions around them.
I had always wanted to create something that reflected who I am — my interests, my heritage, my professional experience — but the moment never felt right. That changed when a manager I worked with asked me to help organise her Italian holiday. From there, everything took shape naturally. I realised there was real demand for this kind of personalised Italy planning, and Bella Ciao Travels grew gradually into what it is today.
My strongest belief about Italy is that its true beauty lies beyond the famous landmarks — in the connection between people, landscapes, and local traditions. That belief is what every itinerary is built to deliver.

What We Stand For
Our Promise
Authenticity
We do not recommend anything we have not personally experienced or rigorously vetted. Every guide, every property, every restaurant in our network is there because it earned its place.
Craftsmanship
Every itinerary is handcrafted — not assembled from a template. The time we invest in understanding your travel aspirations is reflected in every detail of the proposal.
Discretion
Your travel details, preferences, and personal information are held in complete confidence. We work with a small number of clients at any time to ensure this standard.
Care
From first enquiry to the morning you fly home, we are reachable, responsive, and genuinely invested in your experience. You are not a booking reference. You are a guest.
Where We Work
Based in Perth, Rooted in Italy
Bella Ciao Travels is based in Perth, Western Australia — close to its Australian clients, and fluent in the things that matter to them: the flight routes, the planning timelines, and the particular concerns of travelling to Italy from this side of the world.
The operational side of every journey sits in Italy. Bella Ciao Travels works in close partnership with a fully licensed Italian travel company that manages bookings, payments, and on-the-ground operations, alongside a network of verified local suppliers and specialists across the regions we offer.
The result is the best of both: a single, personal point of contact in your time zone who designs the trip, backed by trusted professionals in Italy who make sure it runs beautifully once you arrive.
I Nostri Partner
Our partners in Italy
Every journey is brought to life by people we know personally and trust completely. These are some of the partners who work with us on the ground.

Our fully licensed Italian travel partner. They handle every booking, payment, and on-the-ground detail of your journey, with a dedicated bilingual support line while you are in Italy.
Alessandra Benedetto
A trusted guide whose private tours bring Italy’s art, history, and everyday life into focus — the kind of storytelling that turns a walk through a city into something you keep.
Fattoria la Bistecca
A working farm outside Cortona, Tuscany, where lunch is grown on the property and cooked the way it has always been. One of our favourite tables in central Italy.
