Puglia & Basilicata

Located in the far south of Italy, Puglia is a region where sea, tradition, and rural life come together in one of the country’s most authentic landscapes. Stretching between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, Puglia is defined by crystal-clear coastlines, whitewashed villages, endless olive groves, and a slower rhythm of life deeply rooted in the land.

Historically, Puglia has always been a crossroads of the Mediterranean. From prehistoric settlements and the legacy of Magna Graecia to Roman roads, Norman castles, Baroque cities, and coastal watchtowers, every corner tells the story of the many civilisations that passed through this land. Among its most iconic symbols are the famous Trulli of Alberobello — unique white stone dwellings recognised worldwide for their extraordinary rural architecture. Alongside them, cities like Lecce, often called the Florence of the South, and coastal gems such as Otranto and Gallipoli reveal the elegance and soul of southern Italy.

Bordering Puglia lies Basilicata, home to one of Italy’s most extraordinary destinations: Matera. Famous for its ancient Sassi — cave dwellings carved directly into limestone — Matera is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world and offers an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Italy.
